This website is the result of over two years of research, and countless hours of design work. Everyone strove toward the same goal; recognition of the contributions made by African-American soldiers in Yosemite and Sequoia, and restoring those contributions to their rightful place in Sierra Nevada history. We hope that people everywhere will enjoy this website, the history it celebrates, and allow the legacy of wild places to charge all of us to explore more fully this and other hidden American stories.
